About the atelier

Atelier Dreibholz is a Vienna-based design practice founded and run by designer and educator Paulus M. Dreibholz in 2003. The term atelier, i.e. an artist’s workshop or studio, refers to a place of intellectual, creative and productive processes and – for us – encompasses a coming together of ideas, concepts and people. Over the past 20 years, the studio’s approach and methods have been described by customers, team members and international press as committed and thorough, critical and challenging, economically responsible with great attention to concept and detail. Our projects and collaborations are based on respect, empathy and personal commitment of all parties involved. Together with the project stake holders, we pool knowledge and share responsibilities, something we refer to as an ‘integral design process’. We use design methods not only to solve problems, but also to inspire, engage and challenge authors, audiences, collaborators, clients and producers alike. Our aim is to contribute to a wider and deeper understanding of society, culture and to de- and refine communicative processes and challenges.

Most common outcomes of the studio’s activities include books and publications, designs for cultural institutions, corporate identities and corporate designs, communication strategies, designs for digital environments and exhibitions, events and workshops.
